The round in three lines
The Sydney derby opened the season 0-0. Sydney FC and Western Sydney Wanderers at Allianz Stadium on a Friday night, and nobody scored. For anyone tipping, a draw scores the same point for everyone, whoever they picked, so the first game of the season moved nobody up the ladder.
Auckland FC's 3-1 win over Melbourne City was the round's biggest margin, at home at Go Media Stadium on the Saturday afternoon.
The other derby was drawn too. Central Coast Mariners and Newcastle Jets shared four goals in a 2-2 at Central Coast Stadium, so two of the round's five games finished level.
Two draws in five games is a round that tests a soccer tipping comp more than a footy one: a draw is a result you can't tip around, and it lands on everyone at once. A TippingMates ladder settles it the moment the final whistle goes, draws included.
Running an A-League Men tipping competition? The ladder updates itself off results like these, so your group can spend the week on the banter, not the maths.
